Practising Tai Chi Chuan has a lot of benefits, You do not only get a better health, You also learn a martial art, in which You use the force from Your opponent, so You don't need to be a big strong person to use Tai Chi Chuan as a fighting art. The bigger the opponent are, and the more force he use, the easier it is to overcome. It takes many years to actually use Tai Chi Chuan as a fighting system, because You have to learn the principles first, and that takes time. You have to be relaxed to move quickly, and to be able to direct the internal energy. Today Tai Chi Chuan is mainly practised for the benefits of the health, but more and more practitioners are getting more interested in the martial art aspects of the art. There are being held competitions in Pushinghands several places round the World. But Tai Chi Chuan is still mainly being practised for the benefit of the health. What are then the benefits? First of all You get a lot of fun doing Tai Chi Chuan, and You get the chance to be with other people. It is said that, if You practise Tai Chi Chuan frequently every day for some years, You will be agile like a child, get a health of a lumberjack and be wise as a sage. Because Tai Chi Chuan doesn't require to much space to perform, strength or expensive equipment, it's possible for any one to practise Tai Chi Chuan no matter how old they are or what sex. Your breath becomes slower and deeper, and the balance becomes better. Your bodily posture becomes more relaxed. The practise not only stimulates the digestion, but it also stimulates the metabolism. Tai Chi Chuan heats the body in the winter and cool it in |
the summer. It strengthen the heart and teach You to use the full capacity of the lungs. If Your practise regularly, You can lower the blood pressure, regulate the circulation of the blood and hinder cramps. The kidneys are strengthen, the digestion becomes better and You absorb the nutrients more effective. The stomach becomes strong and elastic like a drumhead. In Tai Chi Chuan the energy is used more effectively and superfluous water in the body will be reduced. Your walk becomes easier, and when You get out of bed in the morning, the feet will become firmly planted in the ground, as if they had made roots. But Tai Chi Chuan is much more than a fitness training. The practise becomes a very excellent tool to use to overcome daily problems and tasks. It makes it easier to think and it open up for Your innermost feelings. You think before You act and You do not go headfirst into the daily life. You learn to use the same principles as in Tai Chi Chuan. You learn to overcome the strong with the soft, activity with passivity, and You keep Your patience, when You are being attacked, physically or mentally. This is not a sudden change, but the result of many years of daily practise.
